Planning guide: Dynamic OOH

When designing a dynamic OOH campaign, you may either choose to use premade SmartContent rules to target your normal video materials, or design a custom HTML material.

NB. Dynamic OOH is unavailable at screens situated inside metros and trams.

HTML GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Please comply with the following directory structure for all HTML projects.

Html is only for management of dynamic external contents (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, RSS feeds, XML, json, image, etc.) If you want to display a purely static content, please create an image. If you want to display standalone animated content (no external resource), please create a video file.

Please note that if you are planning to manage external content over the network (e.g., video streaming, live feed), please contact the media portal (mediaportaali@jcdecaux.com). This type of material requires separate planning and testing, and there may be additional costs involved.

In dynamic campaigns, when using HTML content delivered from a client server, it is recommended that you use preload script.

The content will be loaded in an invisible window when the previous content is playing. When the playback is starting (and the window becomes visible), the jcddms_playbackStart event is fired. In order to ensure correct playout, the HTML content should have a callback on the jcddms_playbackStart event on the playback start.

jcddms_playbackStart event may not be visible from iframes. It is the responsibility of the main document that includes the iframe to either act on the iframe directly or forward the event, e.g. with window.postmessage.

ENSURE THE SPEED OF YOUR WEBPAGE.

• The page has to load within three seconds, regardless of the location of the screen.

DESIGN YOUR MATERIALS BASED ON THE CHOSEN LOCATIONS:

• Vertical formats:
  • 1080 x 1920 px
• Compass Rautatientori:
  • 1800 x 400 px
• X-track:
  • 1920 x 1080 px

 

MATERIAL DELIVERY:

Material delivery: Mediaportal

• Materials should be delivered 2 weeks before the start of the campaign
• Please also provide any URLs utilized by the material upon delivery so that we can configure the firewall to allow the necessary connection

The design of a dynamic SmartContent is largely the same as a regular digital OOH campaign. Just take into consideration the following additional guidelines:

DELIVER INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CAMPAIGNS TARGETING:

• For example: Material 1 only shows when its sunny outside AND the temperature is over 20 degrees celcisus. Otherwise, show material 2.
• NB. some material has to run at all times. So please include a placeholder material, that the campaign defaults to when none of the rules match.
• Available targeting rules:
  • Weather
  • Temperature
  • Location (area or select screens)
  • Time
  • Day of the week
  • Date

NAMING THE FILE:

Name the materials so they display the following information:

• Advertiser
• Advertised product/brand
• Campaign week
• Material resolution

MATERIAL DELIVERY:

• Materials should be delivered 2 weeks before the start of the campaign
• All materials should be delivered at the same time.
  • If the same material is used in multiple locations, you only need to deliver it once.

  • Advertiser
  • Campaign time
  • Instructions for targeting
